The Maison des aînés et alternative de Sainte-Foy (seniors’ home and alternative home) is a public residential facility located at 1576 Route de l’Église in the Sainte-Foy area of Quebec City. Now open, it has 8 living units of 12 places each, for a total of 96 places. Of these, 84 places are reserved for seniors with a loss of autonomy, including people living with Alzheimer’s disease or cognitive impairments. The other 12 are for adults with specific needs, including people living with a physical or intellectual disability.
This living environment is designed to feel like home. Every resident has a private, air-conditioned room with a bathroom and shower. The setting is welcoming, with indoor and outdoor spaces adapted to the changing needs of residents and their families, and the home is open to the community. Residents receive the help they need with hygiene, dressing, eating and mobility, as well as medication distribution. Three meals a day and snacks are provided.
The Maison des aînés et alternative de Sainte-Foy is close to the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ), formerly known as Hôpital Laval, giving residents access to specialized hospital care nearby. Parc Saint-Louis-de-France, close by, is ideal for walks with family. Admission is through the public health network, via the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale.

Un vrai milieu de vie interactif selon les intérêts du résident, à des années lumières positives de ce que j'avais vécu pour ma mère et au début du séjour de mon frère en résidence CHSLD régulière. Les maisonnées d'une douzaine de résidents seulement, une idée de génie, on se sent chez le résident, dans son milieu de vie, et non en institution.
