Behind each elder, there are great women and great men who have dedicated their lives to help the new generations. Let's not forget them, let's take care of them and protect them. Since June 4, 2020, the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service has launched the #SPALtoujours initiative, which aims to meet Quebec seniors. The project aims to promote the elderly, by publishing an inscription of the trade they practiced before their retirement or their passion, such as travel, cooking, knitting, etc., while using technology.
The objective of #SPALtoujours
During the previous months, several safety regulations, including confinement, were put in place to protect the vulnerable, but forgetting "the human behind the elder". These people are not only elders ... they have had and will always be grateful for making this society what it is today.
The following initiative aims to put them at the forefront by valuing them on the journey of their life, their experience, their profession and their passion. This generation has the greatest knowledge base in terms of life experiences and they will always have it. The police want to pay tribute to them by highlighting personal moments that represent them and show how far they have come in those years. They were accommodating, resilient and are an example to follow.
How to participate?
- Take a photo with the inscription #SPALtoujours, then write the # and the name of the trade that you practiced before your retirement. It is important to register without putting spaces between the words, to write well #SPALtoujours containing the abbreviation of the police service "SPAL" in capital letters and the word "toujours" in small letters.
YES: #SPALtoujours
NO: #SPAL toujours
- Post the photo on the residence's Facebook page or the resident's personal Facebook page, making sure to select the option visible to everyone.
- The feed on the Facebook page of the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service will be done through a mosaic as soon as several people have submitted their photo which demonstrates to the population that your generation is precious.
It's up to you to continue #SPALtoujours.
