An 80 yr old family member moved in almost a year ago. Yesterday when I went for a visit, I found her happily enjoying her afternoon chatting with a group of friends, sitting near the fireplace. We went for a coffee in the cafe, then a kilometre walk, something she does twice a day, indoors. She mentioned how she hardly noticed winter this year as she no longer had to deal with it. We run into people at every turn, smiling and enjoying life. The apartments are spacious, the buildings are always kept immaculate. The residents use the pool, gym, virtual golf, bank, doctor’s office, chapel, grand hall, movie theatre. I have witnessed everyday life there and to see what retirement can be is heartwarming.
