Maison des aînés de Saint-Canut

The Maison des aînés de Saint-Canut is a public long-term care seniors’ home located at 9525 Rue Magloire-Lavallée, in the Saint-Canut sector of Mirabel, in the Laurentides region. Inaugurated in March 2024 by the CISSS des Laurentides, it offers 72 places to seniors in the region, in a new residential development. It welcomes seniors with a very significant loss of autonomy, about 80% of whom live with major neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.

The home offers a human-scale living environment, with six air-conditioned households of 12 residents each, named in honour of Mirabel’s history. Every resident has a private room with a toilet and an adapted shower. Care is tailored to each person, including medication distribution and administration, help with hygiene, dressing, eating and mobility, and on-site visits from doctors and specialists. Nursing staff and care attendants support residents every day.

Designed to feel like home, the Maison des aînés de Saint-Canut respects each resident’s daily rhythm and encourages human contact. Indoor and outdoor spaces are designed for residents and their families, who are encouraged to take part in daily life at the home, and the home maintains close ties with the community. Admission is through the CISSS des Laurentides’ residential access mechanism (Mécanisme d’accès à l’hébergement).
