In the context of a pandemic, the MSSS published a document on April 12, 2020 containing instructions and measures to enforce in private residences for seniors (for all categories of RPA). As of May 18, 2020, the MSSS published an update of the instructions to follow. By adding, for example, specifications on visits and outings, as well as on infection prevention and control measures.
Rental visits and caregivers
The document shows the most recent directives concerning visits by caregivers and provides details concerning the residents' outings. It is also specified that rental visits of private residences are authorized , under certain conditions and leisure activities can now be organized , insofar as the physical distance of 2 meters can be ensured.
Caregivers who provide significant support can visit their loved ones , under certain conditions stipulated in this document.
Easing measures
As mentioned, in the recent article Gradual deconfinement plan for seniors in residence , you will find all the details on the measures, dates, conditions and steps for gradual deconfinement in private residences. Among the easing measures, we find:
Withdrawal from the obligation of supervised outings;
Possibility to take your car;
Possibility to go to shops for essential purchases (pharmacy, grocery store);
Hand hygiene when leaving and returning to the rental unit, when leaving and returning to the residence, as well as before and after each activity.
