CHSLD de La Prairie: Long-Term Care Nursing Home in Montérégie
CHSLD de La Prairie is a public long-term care nursing home located at 500 Avenue Balmoral in La Prairie, in Quebec’s Montérégie region. Part of the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest, it has 124 places for non-autonomous seniors who need several hours of care each day. It also welcomes people living with a physical or intellectual disability, people with mental health needs and people receiving palliative care.
Residents receive comprehensive care, including medication management and administration, help with hygiene, dressing and mobility, foot care, and on-site visits from doctors and specialists. The team includes nurses, nursing assistants, care attendants, a physiotherapist, a dietitian and an occupational therapist. Three meals a day, snacks, housekeeping, laundry, pastoral services and an adapted activities program round out the services, and staff speak English and French. An on-site day centre also welcomes seniors who live at home and offers respite to family caregivers.
CHSLD de La Prairie is near Parc de la Citière, a large green space that is ideal for family walks during visits. Residents can also relax in a lounge with a fireplace or on the outdoor swings.
