Centre d’hébergement de La Mitis is a public long-term care nursing home (CHSLD) located at 800 Avenue du Sanatorium in Mont-Joli, in Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Part of the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent, it shares its address with the Centre hospitalier de La Mitis, the Mont-Joli hospital. Residents therefore have direct access to hospital care and the emergency department. The CHSLD spans three floors, with single and double rooms.

Centre d’hébergement de La Mitis offers all the services of a CHSLD, with comprehensive care that adapts as needs change for non-autonomous residents. It also welcomes people living with Alzheimer’s disease or cognitive loss, including in a dedicated memory care unit, as well as people with mental health needs or a physical disability. The care team of nurses, nursing assistants and care attendants provides medication management, help with hygiene and mobility, and palliative care.

Meals are served in a friendly atmosphere, with two main dish choices and an alternative menu. Common areas are designed so that residents and their families feel at home. An activity program runs seven days a week, with the involvement of volunteers and community partners. Staff speak English and French. Admission is through the public health network, via the local CLSC.
